Secondary School Hockey Competitions & Leagues 2015
Please find below details of the proposed programme for secondary schools hockey competitions available to schools within and outside of Plymouth. The aim is to increase the number of boys and girls playing competitive hockey in school, with the ultimate aim of increasing the number progressing to join a local club. The programme builds on the previous success of the competitions run by the former PHDG in partnership with the SSPs. In addition the new programme aims to provide further opportunities for young leaders to gain experience in coaching and officiating. Even if your school does not deliver much hockey please read on as there is something for all schools irrespective of whether you have staff interested and able to deliver.
Schools are allowed to enter as many teams as they like within each of the age groups. Girls are allowed to play in the boy’s competitions but no boys are allowed to play in the girls competitions. In order to enable all schools/cluster teams to enjoy playing the competitions may be split half way through into cup and shield competitions depending on the number and range of results.
Cluster Teams - schools which do not have enough players available to make up a team can work together to form a cluster team.
